Cheers to the Red, White & Blue

This 4th of July I spent with friends and family in Bay Area California. The extended weekend required some good yet easy packing to avoid checking bags so I could hit the ground running.

Here are my essentials:
* Straw derby style hat $26 for the pool and an easy hair solution
* Flats/slip ons for running around the city. My pick is a pair of crochet TOMS $44-$55
* Cross body tote for day time essentials: camera, touch up make up, wallet, and hand wipes (if you ride BART and are running around the city you will be glad you packed these!)
* Wedges: comfortable and stylish can be dressed up or down
* Rainbows (support your local surf shop)  for kickin' it poolside and cruising around town
* Maxi Dress: Quiksilver Girls $59
* Obagi skin care system to wash the day away and keep my skin happy and restored from plane travel and environment adjustment (I travel with smaller amounts to be TSA friendly)

The sweltering heat was a nice welcome from the June gloom we had been having in Orange County.

A Love For Shoes...

A long over due trip to San Francisco to visit my eighty something year old grandma (po-po, in Chinese) may explain where I get my love for shoes and why I have so many.  Perhaps I am biased, but I think she has some great style and an amazing selection of flats to conquer the hills of SF.  I left her house jealous and sad that I am not a petite little lady with a size 4 (maybe 4 1/2 according to mom) shoe size. Lucky for Grandma I don't wear the same size; what a fabulous collection! Here are just a few.

On the Streets of Seattle...Ballard District

I couldn't believe my eyes as I passed an old music store....yes there are still stores out there that sell records, cds, and concert tickets! Reminiscent of Empire Records strikes back I loved seeing old type writer  and vintage luggage case in the window. A great pairing  for the pink one in Inspiration I spotted a couple weeks earlier.

PACK IT UP

This throw back vintage style suitcase makes me want to hop on a plane to explore the country side of France! Its durable hard case will withstand all the baggage handling, cobblestone and dirt paved roads while the soft floral lining give a nod of femininity.

I LOVE HOODS!

Love and Happily Ever After

Congratulations to my dear friends Carey and Craig Applegate on their marriage and beautiful wedding. This special event was one of the first weddings to be hosted at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad, CA and I'm sure it set the bar. This was truly a DYI wedding that was executed so perfectly the bride had everyone telling her to go into Wedding and Event Planning. The bride wore a sweetheart neck, strapless dress with a mermaid train. Her bridesmaids wore cream and mustard yellow sweetheart neckline dresses too with tan ankle boots while the Groomsmen wore flannel plaid collared shirts, dark denim, and black canvas kicks. Oh and I can't forget the butterflies! A little drowsy, they took a few minutes to wake up when it was time for their release. This comedic event couldn't have been more perfect in making the day that much more memorable. Paired with some of the most adorable flower girls, ringer bearers, and of course a loving husband, family and friends this wedding was the beginning to two soul mates' happily ever after.
